This site is dedicated to identifying what the Gospel says about various topics. An index of topics is provided below
One aspect that is also included with the topics are the consistencies between the Old and New Testaments. God's Word does not change, so if something is mentioned in the New Testament, it should also be mentioned directly or as a type and shadow in the Old Testament. Some topics may also include statements of beliefs from various denominations as a means to compare and contrast interpretations of the Gospel. Book of Mormon verses are included as part of the comparison of beliefs. Some denominations have not issued formal statements about their interpretation of some concepts, but every attempt is made to identify an authoritative source.
Is there any confusion about what the scriptures say or mean?
No. God's Word is completely consistent. God's Word is clear. It states that any message from God is clear. What is meant by this?
Matthew 5.37 - But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
Commentary: Greek does not have a word for "maybe." The phrase "Yea, yea" means yes. Likewise, "Nay, nay" means no. The Greek phrase for "maybe" was "yea and nay" (literally yes and no). This verse identifies that anything other than a clear "yes" or clear "no" leads to evil.
2 Corinthians 1:17-19 - When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
Commentary: The message here is that there is no "maybe" in God's Word. "Maybe" is only something that mankind (i.e. flesh) comes up with. This important concept is used on this site. Verses simply do not contradict other verses. If it looks like two verses indicate the Gospel means one thing in one situation and something else in another situation, then your interpretation is not correct and you need to find an interpretation that makes both verses consistent. Note: Comments may be provided in the topics about denominations that publish statements that are inconsistent with any verses in the scriptures.
