LDS D&C Section 52

9 And let them journey from thence preaching the word by the way, saying none other things than that which the prophets and apostles have written, and that which is taught them by the Comforter through the prayer of faith.

14 And again, I will give unto you a pattern in all things, that ye may not be deceived; for Satan is abroad in the land, and he goeth forth deceiving the nations-

18 And again, he that is overcome and bringeth not forth fruits, even according to this pattern, is not of me.
19 Wherefore, by this pattern ye shall know the spirits in all cases under the whole heavens.

36 Let them labor with their families, declaring none other things than the prophets and apostles, that which they have seen and heard and most assuredly believe, that the prophecies may be fulfilled.
RLDS D&C Section 52

4b And again, I will give unto you a pattern in all things, that ye may not be deceived; for Satan is abroad in the land, and he goeth forth deceiving the nations;

5a And again, he that is overcome and bringeth not forth fruits, even according to this pattern, is not of me; wherefore by this pattern ye shall know the spirits in all cases, under the whole heavens.

8b Let them labor with their families, declaring none other things than the prophets and apostles, that which they have seen, and heard, and most assuredly believe, that the prophecies may be fulfilled.

Doctrine and Covenants Comparison:

Both the LDS and RLDS Doctrine and Covenants (D&C) are in agreement that the fulness of the Gospel is described in the Bible and Book of Mormon and the Spirit will direct teaching these principles.

Note: If the principle is not in the Bible and/or Book of Mormon, then it is not a principle of the Gospel.

LDS D&C, Section 42

11 Again I say unto you, that it shall not be given to any one to go forth to preach my gospel, or to build up my church, except he be ordained by some one who has authority, and it is known to the church that he has authority and has been regularly ordained by the heads of the church.
12 And again, the elders, priests and teachers of this church shall teach the principles of my gospel, which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, in the which is the fulness of the gospel.
13 And they shall observe the covenants and church articles to do them, and these shall be their teachings, as they shall be directed by the Spirit.
14 And the Spirit shall be given unto you by the prayer of faith; and if ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach.
15 And all this ye shall observe to do as I have commanded concerning your teaching, until the fulness of my scriptures is given.
RLDS D&C, Section 42

4 Again, I say unto you that it shall not be given to anyone to go forth to preach my gospel or to build up my church, except he be ordained by someone who has authority, and it is known to the church that he has authority and has been regularly ordained by the heads of the church.
5a And again, the elders, priests, and teachers of this church shall teach the principles of my gospel, which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, in which is the fullness of the gospel;

5c And all this ye shall observe to do as I have commanded concerning your teaching until the fullness of my Scriptures is given.

John Taylor, as Editor and Proprietor of the Times and Seasons describes those that teach contrary to the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the book of Doctrine and Covenants should be disfellowshipped.

Same reference (there was one church at this time - the LDS and RLDS had not split) Times and Seasons, Vol. 5, No. 7, page 490

If any man writes to you, or preaches to you, doctrines contrary to the Bible, the Book of Mormon, or the book of Doctrine and Covenants, set him down as an imposter [impostor]. You need not write to us to know what you are to do with such men; you have the authority with you.-Try them by the principles contained in the acknowledged word of God; if they preach, or teach, or practice contrary to that, disfellowship them; cut them off from among you as useless and dangerous branches, and if they are belonging to any of the quorums in the church, report them to the president of the quorum to which they belong, and if you cannot find that out, if they are members of an official standing, belonging to Nauvoo, report them to us.

1893

Wilford Woodruff (LDS President in 1893) testifies in court that God does not change a law previously given through a prophet. Note: The topics below show the LDS changed many doctrines from when they were given by revelation through Joseph Smith.

LDS

RLDS / Restoration

Abstract of Evidence, Temple Lot Case, U.S.C.C, filed 1893, page 299 After the law had been revealed from the Lord. I do not think that it was possible for the Lord to change that law by revealing something that was contrary to the law previously revealed through the prophet. I do not think, that he would do that.
