Moron (Kingdom Of Cohor)

Moron (Kingdom Of Cohor)

This is the land of Moron. Due to the practice of naming a land by the same name as the city, it is presumed to also be the city of Moron. The land of Moron is eastward of the Sea West, the Promised Land, and the land Desolation. It was next to the land Desolation, next to and higher in altitude than the land of Nehor, in proximity to the valley of Gilgal, in proximity to the wilderness of Akish, and in proximity to the land southward. The land of Moron is part of the north countries.

OMNI 1:39 [1:22]: And his first parents came out from the tower, at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people; and the severity of the Lord fell upon them, according to his judgments, which are just; and their bones lay scattered in the land northward:

Commentary: This verse references the places of the land Northward, Moron, and Zarahemla. This is a brief account of Coriantumr when he lived with the first people of Zarahemla for nine moons. Coriantumr was the ruler of the land of Moron. The parents of Coriantumr were associated with the land northward.

ETHER 3:41 [7:4]: And when Corihor was thirty and two years old, he rebelled against his father, and went over and dwelt in the land of Nehor; and he begat sons and daughters; and they became exceeding fair; wherefore Corihor drew away many people after him.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Nehor. Corihor went over from the land of Moron to the land of Nehor. The phrase 'went over' means there is a ridge between the land of Moron and the land of Nehor.

ETHER 3:42 [7:5]: And when he had gathered together an army, he came up unto the land of Moron where the king dwelt, and took him captive, which brought to pass the saying of the Brother of Jared, that they would be brought into captivity.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron, Nehor, and the Promised Land (Ether). The term 'him' refers to Kib. Corihor went from the land of Nehor to the land of Moron. The phrase 'up unto' means the land of Moron is higher in altitude than the land of Nehor. Between Ether 3:14 [6:12] and this verse, the location of the people currently in the land of Moron has moved from being in the Promised Land by the seashore to the land of Moron. Ether 3:15 [6:13] mentions they 'went forth upon the land.' This could account for the people moving from the Promised Land (Ether) to the land of Moron.

ETHER 3:43 [7:6]: Now the land of Moron where the king dwelt, was near the land which is called Desolation by the Nephites.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Desolation and Moron. The phrase 'was near' means the land of Moron is next to the land Desolation. Since the land Desolation is by the Sea West, the land of Moron had to be either north, east, or south of the land Desolation because the Sea West is to the west of the land Desolation.

ETHER 3:54 [7:16]: And he gave battle unto Shule, the king, in which he did obtain the land of their first inheritance; and he became a king over that part of the land.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Nehor. The term 'he' refers to Noah. The phrase 'land of their first inheritance' refers to the land of Moron since the house of Noah is located in the land of Moron (Ether 3:55 [7:17]).

ETHER 3:55 [7:17]: And it came to pass that he gave battle again unto Shule the king; and he took Shule the king, and carried him away captive into Moron.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Nehor. The term 'he' refers to Noah. Shule was in the land of Nehor, so the land of Moron is near the land of Nehor.

ETHER 3:56 [7:18]: And it came to pass as he was about to put him to death, the sons of Shule crept into the house of Noah by night and slew him, and broke down the door of the prison and brought out their father, and placed him upon his throne in his own kingdom; wherefore the son of Noah did build up his kingdom in his stead;

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Nehor. The term 'he' refers to Noah. The phrase 'upon his throne in his own kingdom' means the sons of Shule went from the land of Moron back to the land of Nehor.

ETHER 3:58 [7:20]: And the country was divided; and there were two kingdoms, the kingdom of Shule and the kingdom of Cohor, the son of Noah.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Nehor. The Kingdom of Shule is the land of Nehor. The Kingdom of Cohor is the land of Moron. To be divided meant these lands were next to each other. Both are in proximity to (or in) the Promised Land (Ether).

ETHER 3:60 [7:22]: And now Cohor had a son who was called Nimrod; and Nimrod gave up the kingdom of Cohor unto Shule, and he did gain favor in the eyes of Shule: wherefore Shule did bestow great favors upon him, and he did do in the kingdom of Shule according to his desires;

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Nehor. The Kingdoms of Shule and Cohor were combined, meaning the land of Moron and the land of Nehor were combined. To be combined means they were next to each other.

ETHER 4:41 [9:35]: And it came to pass that when they had humbled themselves sufficiently before the Lord, he did send rain upon the face of the earth, and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Heth, Moron, Narrow Neck, Nehor, and the north country. The term 'they' refers to the people that lived in the north countries. The phrase 'north countries' seems to refer to the lands of Nehor, Heth, and Moron. There were other countries 'round about' the north country. All of these lands are located in or near the narrow neck.

ETHER 4:66 [10:19]: And in the days of Lib the poisonous serpents were destroyed; wherefore they did go into the land southward, to hunt food for the people of the land; for the land was covered with animals of the forest.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Heth, land southward, Moron, Nehor, and the north country. The people of Lib went from the north country, the lands of Nehor, Heth, and Moron, into the land southward. The term 'into' indicates that the lands of Nehor, Heth, and Moron were outside the land southward in order to travel into the land southward. The land southward is not too far from the north country in order to use it for a place to hunt.

ETHER 6:12 [13:11]: And they are they who were scattered and gathered in from the four quarters of the earth, and from the north countries, and are partakers of the fulfilling of the covenant which God made with their father Abraham.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Heth, Moron, Nehor, and the north country. The north countries are the lands of Nehor, Heth, and Moron.

ETHER 6:26 [13:24]: And the sons of Coriantumr, in the fourth year, did beat Shared, and did obtain the kingdom again unto their father.

Commentary: This verse references the place of Moron. The throne of Coriantumr is the land of Moron.

ETHER 6:29 [13:27]: And it came to pass that Coriantumr was exceeding angry with Shared, and he went against him with his armies to battle; and they did meet in great anger; and they did meet in the valley of Gilgal; and the battle became exceeding sore.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron, and the valley of Gilgal. The valley of Gilgal is in proximity to the land of Moron.

ETHER 6:37 [14:3]: And now after the space of two years, and after the death of Shared, behold, there arose the brother of Shared, and he gave battle unto Coriantumr, in which Coriantumr did beat him, and did pursue him to the wilderness of Akish.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and the wilderness of Akish. The wilderness of Akish is near the land of Moron (which was ruled by Coriantumr).

ETHER 6:40 [14:6]: And he came forth to the land of Moron, and placed himself upon the throne of Coriantumr.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and the wilderness of Akish. The term 'he' refers to Gilead. Gilead came from the wilderness of Akish to the land of Moron. Coriantumr ruled the land of Moron (his throne was in the land of Moron). The wilderness of Akish would be in proximity to the land of Moron.

ETHER 6:41 [14:7]: And it came to pass that Coriantumr dwelt with his army in the wilderness, for the space of two years, in which he did receive great strength to his army.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and the wilderness of Akish. Ether 6:48 [14:14] indicates this wilderness is the wilderness of Akish. The army of Corihor increased with people that were coming from the land of Moron indicating the wilderness of Akish is next to the land of Moron.

ETHER 6:45 [14:11]: And it came to pass that in the first year of Lib, Coriantumr came up unto the land of Moron, and gave battle unto Lib.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and the wilderness of Akish. The phrase 'came up unto' is an uncommon phrase in the Book of Mormon. The phrase indicates that the land Moron is higher up in elevation than the wilderness of Akish.

ETHER 6:46 [14:12]: And it came to pass that he fought with Lib, in which Lib did smite upon his arm that he was wounded; nevertheless, the army of Coriantumr did press forward upon Lib, that he fled to the borders upon the sea-shore.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and Sea West. The term 'he' refers to Coriantumr. Lib fled from the land of Moron to the Sea West seashore.

ETHER 6:47 [14:13]: And it came to pass that Coriantumr pursued him; and Lib gave battle unto him upon the sea-shore.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron and the Sea West. The land of Moron lies in proximity to the seashore.

ETHER 6:48 [14:14]: And it came to pass that Lib did smite the army of Coriantumr, that they fled again to the wilderness of Akish.

Commentary: This verse references the places of Moron, the Sea West, and the wilderness of Akish. The wilderness of Akish next to the land of Moron should also not be very far from the seashore.
