Into a New land

The term "into" is used 634 times in the Book of Mormon, so it is a fairly common term. The two most common uses are to describe going from one place to another place or to be placed under control of someone else, like an enemy. The other uses include variations of these two uses.

They can include entering into a covenant, entering into the membership of the church, ascending into heaven, translation into another language, or falling into transgression. It always signifies going (leaving) from one situation to another.

It is the use that indicates going from one place to another that is significant to understanding the geography when it is used. Understanding that it signifies a change in location signified by crossing a boundary (leaving) helps to understand where boundaries exist.
