Directions
- Mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, and egg whites. Form into 5 patties about 3/4 inch thick.
- In a pan, spray with cooking spray and brown the hamburger patties, about 4 minutes on each side.
- Mix the water, tomato paste, wine, Worcestershire, pepper, and soup. Remove the beef chunks from the soup with a fork.
- Remove the patties from the pan and add the sauce, heat to bubbling, about 2 minutes.
- Add the patties back into the pan, turning them to coat with the sauce.
- Cook covered on medium about 5 minutes more per side, coat the tops of the patties after turning the patties over.
Comments
- A good substitute for the wine is cranberry or cran-grape juice.
- A very good recipe. It tastes like Salisbury steak should taste, not the overcooked stuff you normally get.
- This recipe can easily be stretched to serve 6.
